To sign or not to sign?

OK, here’s the deal. I’m asking family and friends (whomever may be reading this) to give us a hand. Natalie and I need to decide whether or not to hang this sign above the entrance to the family room. One of us is for it, and the other is unsure. Please take a look at the pics and let me know what you think in the comments of this post (just click where it gives the count of the comments directly under this entry). Take whatever you like into consideration, the color, the text, up to you. If we hang it, it’ll be centered between the top of the door and the ceiling. We’d REALLY appreciate your input.

In other news, we’re making a LOT of progress with the painting. We’ve completed the sitting room, the dining room (we’re having the room measured for a new carpet as well) and we’re into the kitchen now. That’s the room that’s taking forever, we’re removing the border and most of of the wall is trim and detail work. It’s coming along though, we’ve got 2-3 more weeks before completion and I can’t wait – well, 2-3 more weeks if we can pick a color for the room…

I like the sentiment and the centered position works for me (anal…)

- if the other option is to NOT display the piece I think THAT would be a waste.

It might also look just fine sitting on a long window sill but Berta may not approve

I totally agree with Sarah, like the sign but it looks to squished above the door. Didn’t you have it in the great room before.? I vaguely remember seeing it & thinking it looked nice.

You ppl are amazing, you actually noticed and remembered it up in the family room. I’m impressed – Keep the voting going, there are many countries not yet heard from.

I think it looks fine there – a good use of that space. I think you’re planning on more art work on those walls so it won’t be lonely.

I say find a place to hang it, but it does look too crowded above the door.

I always like a sign over a doorway. It is very hard to tell if there is enough space between the door and ceiling but if you have about 3″ between the ceiling and sign and the sign and top of the door go for it. If not I did like where you had it in the family room.

I don’t know where it was before, since I haven’t been in your house, but I like it above the door. I love the sentiment, too.
